OUR STATEMENT
DRIVER DISTRACTION ALERT
Driver Distraction Alert technology provides an alert to drivers who may be distracted while using their smartphones. The National Safety Council revealed that in 2019, about 38,800 people lost their lives in car accidents, which represents a 2% decrease from 2018’s total of 39,404 fatalities, and a 4% decline from the 40,231 deaths reported in 2017. Furthermore, around 4.4 million individuals required medical attention for injuries sustained in crashes that year, reflecting a 2% reduction compared to 2018.
According to the NHTSA data on distracted driving, the number of deaths attributed to distracted driving has varied between approximately 2,900 and over 3,200 each year from 2017 to 2023, with 2,935 deaths recorded in 2017 (accounting for 9% of fatal crashes) and 3,275 in 2023. Projections for 2024 and 2025 suggest an estimated 3,240 to 3,265 deaths, indicating a persistent and troubling issue, despite the overall decline in traffic fatalities expected in mid-2025.
### Key Figures by Year
